Philips will move North American HQ to Cambridge — along with 2,000 workers - (Boston Business Journal via NewsPoints Desk)

  • Philips is moving its North American headquarters and 2000 employees in 2020 from Andover, Massachusetts, where it has been based for about 17 years, to the Cambridge Crossing campus, which is located in the same state in Cambridge, Boston and Somerville,  Boston Business Journal reported.

  • Silvie Casanova, Philips company spokesperson, said the new location provides a convenient location for the company to be closer to hospitals, health systems, and research and academic institutions, as well as the region’s startup community.

  • While Philips will shutter three of its office and lab facilities in Andover, it will keep a 300-person manufacturing facility open.

  • The 2,000-staff at Cambridge will include the company’s innovation and commercial healthcare technology team, including employees in sales and marketing, software development and engineering.

  • Casanova added that the new location is "a big campus, and it's a big facility, and it will afford us the opportunity to grow."
